The Pineal Gland 101: Detoxification And Reactivation

Solitude Overlooking The Sea at Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia
Gifted French philosopher and mathematician Rene Descartes (1596 - 1650) was fascinated by the pineal gland and studied it extensively.  He called it the "principal seat of the soul".  The word "pineal"  is derived from a Latin word which means "pinecone".  Many ancient cultures and traditions revered the pineal gland which is shaped like a pinecone and depicted frequently in architecture, sculpture, and art.  It figured prominently in the ancient art of iatromathematica (medical astrology of ancient Greece) long before scientific and medical studies had provided any data on physiological function.

Meditation: To Succeed, Keep It Simple!

Gentle Waves and A Gentle Breeze

In meditation, we quiet our bodies and minds to focus our attention inward, away from the chaotic world around us.  Edgar Cayce began recommending meditation in the late 1920s and 1930s.  He wrote:
"and in the meditation, don't meditate upon, but listen to the voice within.  For prayer is supplication for direction, for understanding.  Meditation is listening to the Divine within."  (Cayce Reading 1861-19)
His succinct statement is one of the most simple and useful I have found on what meditation is and how to do it.  Gently relaxing the body and listening intently for a voice within is the easiest form of meditation I have discovered.  I don't count my breaths or direct my attention to any other part of my body, only within, waiting for a message.  Imagine you are listening intently to what a good friend is saying to you in conversation. If you are truly focused, there is little room in your mind for other dialog.    When I find that my thoughts are straying, I gently pull my mind back into the intense listening mode again.

Synchronicity: Encouragement from The Universe

Finding His Bike at Leidseplein Square, Central Amsterdam,
 The Netherlands.
A little synchronicity is needed here!
Alex Chua, a Professional Coach & Trainer from Singapore, describes succinctly below how synchronicity works in our daily lives.

With Synchronicity,
all the resources we need are made available to us at the precise moment that is appropriate.
The people who come into our lives are the ones we need at that moment in time.
Everything is perfect.
We only need to recognise this to tune into the flow.
Everything happens for a Reason.
Every Experience is a Learning Experience.

Many articles and books have been written on Synchronicity.  I have provided a few links to useful uncomplicated sources at the end of this post.  Carl Jung, Swiss psychiatrist and father of analytical psychology, originally created the term "synchronicity", first introducing the concept in the 1920s.  During the 1950's after many years of consideration,  he began to  write extensively on the subject.

Our Intelligent Hearts: A Gift from The Universe

Our beautiful hearts are intelligent, emotive, energetic, and intuitive.
They communicate with the world around us.

As we experience spiritual awakening, we frequently read statements like "we are all one", "we are all connected", and "As above, so below". We learn about The Field, that web of invisible energy that holds together literally everything in our Universe. We read that the Universe is "holographic". While these statements may ring true for us on an intuitive level, we are not all physicists and we have difficulty understanding how such hypotheses apply in our physical world.
The research discoveries at the Institute of HeartMath during the past twenty years may help us better understand our connectedness and much more. Quoting from the website HeartMath Mission Statement:
"HeartMath's mission is to facilitate a fundamental shift in health, well-being, and consciousness. The focus of its triple-bottom-line mission is people, planet, and profit".

The Dark Night of The Soul: Will It Ever End?

Our Beautiful Earth.  Maui Again!  A Stormy Sea
 (Appropriate for this Blog topic)

As I wrote in my Profile, my younger daughter passed away suddenly at age 39.  That was 3 years, 8 months, 1 week, and 4 days ago.  And,  YES, I am still counting!  My life has a schism...life BEFORE she died and life AFTER she died.
My grief has been compounded by the lost of my two precious grandchildren (her children) from my life in the family drama that followed, relocation from our home city of the last 25 years as well as financial challenges associated with the relocation and the economy.  My "dark night of the soul" seems to have no end.
I am not new to grief.  I have had many loses in my life

What Does God Feel Like?

Our Beautiful Earth - A Field of Easter Lilies
on a family farm in Dunkirk, NY
If you celebrate Easter this weekend, I wish for you a day filled with the love and warmth of family and friends.
If Easter is not a religious holiday that you observe, then I wish for you a beautiful Spring or Autumn day, depending on which hemisphere you live in, also filled with the love and warmth of family and friends.
